A mysterious feeling in the air,
draws everything to it,
calls the birds back home,
coaxes the animals out of hiding,
sparks a newfound energy,
and sprouts green.
the green of desire.
desire to live with purpose,
start afresh,
recreate,
and send out new shoots
with no worries as to where they settle.
renews my spirits,
shakes the heavy cloak of a long winter,
refreshes my soul with every
drop
of
rain.
spring makes me green.
But for now we are young, let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see...

when irish eyes are smiling...
When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
My favorite holiday has arrived, St. Patrick's Day. Having a purely Irish name like Kelly Keegan makes my heart swell with pride on this day. The celebration will be low key since I am at home. I made some Shepard's Pie for dinner, an meat and potato Irish specialty. That will be accompanied with an Irish beer and an Irish dessert if I can find a good recipe.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
Speaking of laughter and singing I just watched this delightful documentary. It's called Danielson: a Family movie {or, Make a Joyful Noise HERE}. It's about Daniel Smith, founder of the Danielson Famile band, Brother Danielson, and Danielsonship. Here's the description on the back: This intimate and eloquent documentary traces the unorthodox path of Daniel Smith-eccentric musician, visual artist and devout Christian-as he creates a musical phenomenon with siblings and friends under the name Danielson Famile, eventually struggling to realize his own identity as an artist once the family members begin their own adult lives. Along the way he mentors an unknown singer-songwriter named Sufjan Stevens whose subsequent success stands in contrast to the music world's uneasy reception of Danielson just a few years earlier.
It shows some lives clips from Cornerstone and the raw beginnings of the musical genius, Sufjan Stevens. Check it out.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
I'm also reading a delightful book called God's Politics: Why the Right gets it wrong and the Left doesn't get it. Here's an excerpt: "We need a transformation of our religion and our politics that acknowledges that the old ways don't work. But we need more than critique. We must ask what's wrong, but also what the answers are. At its heart, we must offer a challenge to hope, which is the only real path to change. Our private religions have failed, but we must not lose a personal God. Instead of trying to strike an elusive "balance" between private piety and the social gospel, we must go to the heart of prophetic religion itself in which a personal God in the public arena and are invited to take our relationship to that God right into the struggle for justice. Indeed, without that personal relationship we will lose the political struggle. That shift-bringing the personal God into the public arena- is at the heart of the prophet's message and will transform both our religion and our politics."
When I am completely done reading this book I will write a long blog with my thoughts. Until then I suggest others pick it up and start reading it cuz there's just nothing better than a good book discussion.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away.
The fam and I are heading to the Ozarks in a few days. I am looking forward to the trip as I need to be refreshed by nature and beauty. And I almost forgot...I found out I am accepted into the VIDES USA program!! More to come on all of this....
